Our Teachers

Wendy Hernandez

Wendy is from a small rural and indigenous village in Guatemala called El Arado. It is common that most kids don’t get to go to school here and they work in the field with their families. There are dirt roads, people walking around, and lots sheet metal houses.  Wendy  is 22 years old. She grew up going to nutrition centers. She works in the fields for 11 hours per day for $6.50  total for the day.  On top of that, she is now in the teacher training program. She is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the ministry and to teach English to her students.

Teacher

Berta Itzol

Berta  is from a town but populated town called Santiago, Sacatepequez. She is 36 and is married with two girls of her own. For work, she washes people's clothes in a bucket, sells tortillas, 4 for 15 cents, and cleans houses. I met Berta because she was cleaning the missionary’s house that I live at. She jumped on the opportunity. Berta has a strong faith and wants to learn more so she can pour into the ministry and her community. Currently, she teaches three classes.
